Wim

Wim shreds a stratocaster, but was once told he had "sweet tele tones." As band manager, I had to step in and rectify the situation.

PDX Pedal Pushin'

I was pretty blown away by the abundance of cyclists in Portland. Not just the 'fixter' kids you seem to encounter in every urban setting these days, but actual utilitarian and practical commuters. Practical in the sense that they ride regular bikes fitted with fenders and lights. Rigs that get the job done. I was fortunate to borrow a nice single speed Surly from James. It was the best way for me to experience the town. We rode our asses off over the weekend. Lots of bridges, some tattoos, rain, and beers.

Up North Kids

I ventured up to Eugene and Portland this past week. The drive up was so long and beautiful. It was nice to visit my friends and see what has been happening in their lives. I stayed with my friend James and went to work with him for a day. He and another guy Tim started Project Grow, which offers disabled adults the chance to work and farm within their neighborhood. The operation seems to be working out; harvesting vegetables and eggs, which then are sold to local restaurants and stores. The men and women earn real wages, something most organizations don't really offer. More importantly, they are actually happy doing something different and resourceful.

Nic

Nic is one of the most talented photographers I know. He's also one of the sweetest guys you'll ever meet. His climbing trips out of the city always create a space to capture some gems. I know I'm partial to his subject matter, but there really isn't much denying that the kid has a keen eye behind the lens.
